A Street Art Guide to Kyiv Ukraine

Kiev is such a vibrant city at the moment and has a good street art scene with international artists coming to leave their mark along with some great local ones.

Not all the street art that can be found in Kiev is included as some are further out in more far away suburbs. But all the street art shown here is in the centre and include some of the best known pieces.

They can all be seen in a long day of walking, with a few short metro stops between areas to save some time.

If you want to do something interesting while in Kiev take a tour of the haunting sites of the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster.

Street Art Kiev Guide

The Old Central Area of Kiev

This part of the city is easy to visit being right in the centre and is packed with some brilliant wall murals, all within easy walking distance of each other.

The first wall mural is one of my personal favourites. The person is dressed in traditional Ukrainian clothes.

Podil Area of Kiev

Podil is one of the oldest parts of the city and has a good alternative laid back feel to the place. The murals are all quite close to each other with only a few minutes walk between them.

This is one of the most recognised wall murals in Kiev.

West of the Centre of Kiev

This part of the city can be visited as a continuation from the old central area and is still very central. The street art here is a bit more spread out but still easily walkable.

Some of the people wall murals are really good in detail.

Love the contrast in this next one from colourful mural to grey housing background.

Just shows how street art can make a neighbourhood a more colourful place.

East and South-East of the Centre

Around this area the street art is very much spread apart and will take an average of 15 minutes walking between each one/area.

This one is stunning on the side of an otherwise dull apartment building. The woman is wearing the traditional Ukrainian dress.

Some cool smaller surreal art.

Random pieces can be found around. Some areas you technically can’t get into, but a little bit of sneaking around can gain you access, like the courtyard in this one.

More simple pieces can be highly effective in their message. The one below has the colours of the Ukraine flag (yellow and blue) with images of children dancing/playing.

Given the current situation in Ukraine with the conflict it is very symbolic of the hope for the future generation to live in peace in their own country.

Well that’s what I got out of it anyway.
