These are the 3 best coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur that I recommend to you after several years of visiting KL as a coffee drinker. They are also in the city’s central part, which is perfect if you are visiting the city for a few days.
Best Coffee Shops In Kuala Lumpur

I have been coming to Kuala Lumpur since 1997 but didn’t “get into” drinking coffee until 2012. Before that time I wasn’t fussed with searching out a good coffee, but now as an avid coffee drinker wherever I go I hunt down the best coffee I can find.
If you’re wondering why only “3” coffeeshops, well it’s quite simple really, most people will only visit a city for a few days on holiday so I narrowed it down for you to where to get some good coffee in that time without having to visit many, many, coffee shops.
I have visited many more coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur, but these are my favourite ones.
Plus, if you’ve been in Kuala Lumpur for a long time, you know where to get a good coffee already. This article is for the travellers who are coming to the city.
So if you’re looking for the best coffee in KL here you go…
VCR

Out of all the coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur, VCR has been my go-to place for several years.
It’s not only the great coffee that I go there for, although that is a very high reason for it, it’s also the great food, especially for brunch, and the atmosphere.

There are some seating places on the downstairs area opposite the serving counter that has a good atmosphere to sit at and, if you’re like me and work online, makes the perfect spot to work for a while.

There is a large seating area upstairs which is good if you’re with a few more people, but I don’t have a picture of that area as I always sit downstairs opposite the counter.
The long black coffee is the best to get there.

Out of all the food options, the Turkish-style eggs with sourdough bread are my favourite that I always have for brunch. The carbonara pasta is also delicious and they have many more food options, including tasty cakes.

One of the main reasons that I highly recommend VCR is also its location in the centre as it’s easy to get to
So if you’re in that central area then head to VCR for brunch/lunch and have some great coffee and food while enjoying a good atmosphere.
Note that VCR is a very popular cafe and on a busy day you may have to wait several minutes to get a table, but they have a lovely outside terrace you can chill at until a table becomes available.

Pulp

Discovery! I found this place on a recent trip to KL and it is one of the best coffees I’ve had in the city, after VCR, and is one of the best coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur that I have been to.
Like I said it has some excellent coffee, with several beans to choose from, and well-trained baristas who will make you a great long black or espresso, among other options.

There is also a spacious seating area that is excellent for working online and offers good space if there are a few people with you.
Again, my favourite coffee is normally a long black coffee. I didn’t try any food there so I can’t comment on that, but anyway this article is about where to get some of the best coffee in the first place, not food.

Although it is “central” it is not as much in the central area as VCR or Feeka Coffee Roasters. Having said that it’s not that far away and a taxi from VCR would take around 10 minutes or so.
I walked there from VCR in an hour and stopped at Little India Town along the way. That’s the other good option as I recommend visiting Little India when in KL anyway for some good Indian food, and Pulp is only 10 minute or so walk from there, or a short taxi ride.

Feeka Coffee Roasters

Feeka Coffee Roasters is another popular coffee shop in the centre of the city and has decent coffee and a good atmosphere for relaxing.
It has good coffee as well, although having said that I do prefer the coffee at VCR and Pulp more.
There is a good seating area inside and outside on the terrace which makes it a good place if you’re with others or if you want to work online for a while.

I didn’t try the food there so I can’t comment on that, but the coffee is good.

My laptop and coffee are on the table at the bottom left.
One of the main things I like about Feeka Coffee Roasters is the outside terrace for working as it’s a very mellow area and I can easily focus on writing there.

Kuala Lumpur and Coffee
KL is one of the best cities in Southeast Asia and if you find yourself there for a few days and need a good coffee fix and some decent food then these are the places to go to.
Out of these 3 places I have mentioned I would personally choose VCR as the overall one to go to out of these best coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur if you have only 1-2 days in the city.
Naturally, if you’re in KL for more than a few days and love your coffee then go exploring for more coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur. Just do the usual search on Google for coffee shops, which I’m sure is how you found this article, and search for more.
For more on Malaysia have a look at my article on how to spend one day in the Cameron Highlands, which is a beautiful area only a few hours drive from Kuala Lumpur.
