The World Nomad Games is one of the most picturesque and fun things that I have ever been to. I went to the first one in 2014 and have just left the 2016 games.
They are held in Kyrgyzstan, a very friendly country in Central Asia.
I did a post before the new games with 40 photos from the 2014 one I went to as a build up. And so with the 2016 games just finishing it was only appropriate to share 40 photos from it as well. 40 is a special number as it literally appears in the word “Kyrgyz”.
I could ramble on about how much awesome fun it was but showing you pictures is the best way to understand!
Some of the games were held next to a shimmering blue lake while others were at a nomadic yurt camp set up in a valley in the mountains.
It was not just the games that were great but also the people dressed traditionally and so welcoming.
Kok boru where they play with a headless goat. This year a USA team played for the first time. It can get dangerous.
Archery and eagle/hawk hunting are a big thing at the games in the nomad camp at Kyrchyn, as well as dog hunting.
Mas wrestling is an entertaining nomadic sport where they wrestle over a stick.
One of the most beautiful things about the nomad games are the traditionally dressed people and their hospitality.
