The World Nomad Games is one of the most picturesque and fun things that I have ever been to. I went to the first one in 2014 and the 2016 games.
They are held in Kyrgyzstan, a very friendly country in Central Asia.
Some of the games were held next to a shimmering blue lake while others were at a nomadic yurt camp set up in a valley in the mountains.
The 2018 games are set to take place around the same time as they always have, in early September.
These are 40 photos taken from the 2016 games that will hopefully inspire you to visit. I could ramble on about how great they are but I think the pictures will tell you everything.
If you like cultural events this could be one of the best things you go to.
Keep updated on the future of the event by email:
It was not just the games that were great but also the people dressed traditionally and who are so welcoming.
Welcome to Kyrgyzstan.

Kok boru where they play with a headless goat. This year a USA team played for the first time. It can get dangerous.
Archery and eagle/hawk hunting are a big thing at the games in the nomad camp at Kyrchyn, as well as dog hunting.
Wrestling at the World Nomad Games
Mas wrestling is an entertaining nomadic sport where they wrestle over a stick.

One of the most beautiful things about the nomad games are the traditionally dressed people and their hospitality.
Hopefully this has inspired you to think about the World Nomad Games as an event to see in 2018.
If you like culture and traditions you won’t regret it.
See you there…
