This Osaka Amazing Pass itinerary is to help you get the best out of the amazing pass, which is an epic way to see a lot of the city and save money when doing it.
The pass gives you lots of free transport options and free access to many tourist destinations in the city. Osaka is one of the best cities in Japan to visit and some people even like it more than Tokyo.
Osaka Amazing Pass Itinerary
Bear in mind that although I’m putting this Osaka Amazing Pass into an ‘itinerary’, you can easily pick and choose the order in which you see the sites, although I do highly recommend starting with Osaka Castle.
Of course, if there are too many ‘museums’ or ‘observation towers’ for you then just choose one of them listed to go and see what you think will have more interest to you.

Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle is one of the best historical places to visit in Osaka and is your first stop on your Osaka Amazing Pass itinerary as it’s one of Japan’s most famous and historically significant landmarks.
Throughout history, the castle has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to various wars, fires, and other events. The current reconstruction reflects the architecture of the late 16th century while incorporating modern materials and techniques.
Osaka Museum of History
The museum is located in the Chūō ward of Osaka, near Osaka Castle. It is situated on a hill, giving you a scenic view of Osaka’s skyline and the castle grounds. As it’s near the castle you should head here next for your Osaka Amazing Pass itinerary.
The Osaka Museum of History offers exhibits that cover a wide range of historical periods, from ancient times to modern eras. The exhibits use a combination of artefacts, models, dioramas, interactive displays, and multimedia presentations to provide insights into Osaka’s history, culture, and development as a city.
The museum features a unique “Sky Garden” observatory on its top floor. This observatory offers panoramic views of Osaka, including landmarks like Osaka Castle and the Yodo River.
Umeda Sky Building
The Umeda Sky Building is a great place to get views across Osaka. The building is a distinctive and modern architectural landmark located in the Kita ward of the city.
It consists of two towers that are connected by a floating garden observatory called the “Kuchu Teien.” It’s conveniently located near Osaka Station and is within walking distance from the station.
Tsutenkaku Tower
Enjoy panoramic views of Osaka from the observation deck of Tsutenkaku Tower, located in the vibrant Shinsekai district, which is known for its nostalgic atmosphere that harks back to the early 20th century.
Tsutenkaku Tower, which translates to “Tower Reaching Heaven,” has a history dating back to its original construction in 1912. The tower was first built as a symbol of modernity and progress during the Taisho period, reflecting the cultural and technological advancements of the time.
There are plenty of places on this Osaka Amazing Pass itinerary to get great views of the city and learn some history from the cultural landmarks in Osaka.
Osaka Science Museum
Explore the world of science through interactive exhibits and displays at the Osaka Science Museum. The Osaka Science Museum is designed to make science engaging and accessible to visitors of all ages.
It offers a wide range of interactive exhibits and displays that cover various scientific disciplines, including physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and technology.
One of the highlights of the museum is its planetarium, which provides immersive astronomical experiences. The planetarium’s shows offer insights into celestial phenomena, the night sky, and space exploration.
On a personal note, this was my favourite museum in Osaka.

Osaka Wheel
The Redhorse Osaka Wheel is a large Ferris wheel, in fact, the largest Ferris wheel in Japan, located in the Tempozan Harbor Village area of Osaka. The observation cabins of the Ferris wheel provide unobstructed views of Osaka Bay, the harbour area, and the city skyline.
The nighttime views from the Ferris wheel are particularly enchanting, offering a unique perspective of the city lights reflecting on the water.
Tombori River Cruise
The Tombori River Cruise takes place in the Dotonbori district, which is known for its vibrant nightlife, shopping, and entertainment options. The Dotonbori Canal runs through this area, and the cruise offers you a unique way to experience the sights and sounds of Dotonbori from the water.
During the cruise, visitors board small boats that navigate the canal, passing by iconic landmarks such as the Glico Running Man sign, a symbol of Dotonbori.
Natural Hot Spring (Tennen Onsen Naniwa no Yu)
With all the busy activity of the day why not relax in a natural hot spring located in Osaka itself?
The Tennen Onsen Naniwa no Yu is free to enter on the Osaka Amazing Pass and could be a good way to wind down either as a break during the day or in the evening after you’ve done everything else.
It’s open from 10 am to midnight.
This is one of the best ways to end this Osaka Amazing Pass itinerary.

Have a fun and interactive experience at the Cup Noodles Museum, where you can learn about the history of instant noodles and even create your own custom cup of noodles.
My CUP NOODLES Factory is one of the highlights of the museum, this activity allows you to design your own cup of noodles. You can choose your preferred soup base, and ingredients, and design the cup’s label.
The Cup Noodles Museum is free to enter.
Visit Osaka
