I visited Japan for the first time at the end of 2013 and it fast became one of my favourite places to travel.
It’s got most things a traveller could want: great food, traditional culture, mountains, beaches, big modern cities and most importantly friendly people.
I spent 40 days there, and in the spirit of that was going to show 40 of my favourite photos from the trip, one for everyday. But as I love Japan so much I figured that could be rounded up to 50 photos.
You will see that the traditional and modern mix all over Japan.
Castles, Temples, and Shrines.
The first photo below is Kinkaku-ji Temple, the most photographed in Japan.
Japan has an obsession with all things cute, in Japanese called ‘kawaii’. From anime to cosplay (costume play), in games played, to sweets eaten, and a whole lot more. You will see cuteness almost everywhere.
Below is the well known Totoro from the famous Japanese animation My Neighbour Totoro.
A cute elevator door.
Some of the best food in the world, especially the sushi and sashimi (my personal favourites). Just a small selection below.
Some of the freshest fish.
The dish below is called okonomiyaki and is delicious.
Japanese Gardens and Scenery.
The famous Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo in the first photo below.
Below is the Hiroshima Peace Memorial in the left of the photo.
Last but certainly not least is the Japanese onsen (thermal bath), one of the joys of travelling there.
I Love Japan.
My most popular post on this site is about how Japan is cheaper to travel than you may think. So if you were maybe put off by the costs of a visit then go check that out where I give a run down on how much things will set you back.
Go to Japan, you will not regret it. I promise you.
This post is dedicated to all my friends in Japan for such a memorable visit.
